2012, a very good year.

I don’t drink, but I always love how people who drink wine say “ah, yes, this is very good year”. I feel that ifΒ  I could bottle up 2012 and then pour myself a glass I would say, ” ah, what a good year!”

Merry Christmas!

This year we stayed up North for Christmas, and as much as we missed the holidays with our families in AZ, it was great to spend this time together as a new little family.

Christmas Eve Brynt had to work a half day, so Camberlyn and I spent the morning baking rolls and cookies and getting the final details ready for the festivities to come. While we worked, the snow was falling outside! It was absolutely beautiful and I felt like I was in a Christmas card as I rolled out sugar cookies while watching the snow come down.

After Brynt came home we took Camberlyn outside to see all the snow, it was so sweet to see her reaction to one of my favorite things in the world.

That evening we had a lovely meal with the Richardsons and the Nickles. It was so fun to watch the little ones play together and we were blessed to enjoy the great company of friends. Hannah and Jarrett’s new baby, Brielle, is the sweetest, tiniest thing, it was great to Ooo and Ahhh over her wiggles and cute facial expressions throughout the evening. During the fun,Β  Grandma Nickle read ” ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” to the kiddos and they loved it!Β  It was a wonderful and fun filled night πŸ™‚

That brings us to Christmas Morning. There is no doubt that Brynt and I have been extremely excited to celebrate Camberlyn’s first Christmas.Β  So it is no surprise that I was up at 5:30 am making muffins and checking that the house was perfect for Cam. At a little after 6 she “woke up” ( I openly admit that we made quite a bit of noise in the hall to encourage her to wake up. I know, we are terrible), and the fun began!Β  She LOVED her gift from Santa, a tunnel to crawl through. She went back and forth through it about 20 times before we could get her interested in her other gifts, so cute. I wont go into all of her gifts, lets just say she is a very loved little girl πŸ™‚ I do have to mention her gift from her daddy though. Brynt put a lot of work into making her a busy board and it turned out wonderfully! She loves it and I am so happy he was able to make her something special.

I have to put in a quick blurb about my Hubby. HeΒ  is awesome.

I am kind of a pain to shop for, but he managed to get me two things that I REALLY wanted, without me asking or even thinking about them as gifts. Brynt, you are the best.Β  He gave me the Jim Shore nativiaty that I have been in love with since I first saw it. He also gave me the picture “Christ walking on water” by Julius Sergius von Klever, that I stare at lovingly for long periods of time every visit to Deseret Book.Β  I am so excited about them both I can hardly contain myself!

I was thrilled that we were able to spend Christmas day doing something I have never done on Christmas … Playing in the snow! It was so fun, we made a make-shift sled for Cam and I, rolled around in the snow and made snow angels. Aside from a face plant in the white stuff, Cam had a good time πŸ™‚

It was a great Christmas; a wonderful and special day to remember and cherish.

Silly little girl

Every day I have the privilege of being a mom. I know it is a gift and I treasure it.

Cam has become such a funny little girl, I love to just sit and watch her play. She is silly, funny, wild, sweet and a million other things. I love her SO much!

Family time is the Best time.

This past week our little home was bursting with fun, and by fun I mean my awesome family! My parents and siblings hit the road and made the long trek up to Idaho for a nice 6 day visit. During the week we had fun visiting the Christmas display at the Idaho Falls museum, driving around the Idaho country side (and almost getting stuck up in the mountains), and just laughing and having fun like only my crazy family can.Β  It was SO great to have them here, they are a wonderful bunch and I loved every second of their visit. But I think it is safe to say that Camberlyn loved their visit the most. She is so blessed to be so completely loved.

One of the great things about the timing of their trip was that we were able to all celebrate Brynt’s birthday together.Β  He opened his gifts in the morning while sporting the alligator hat and wrestling champion belt I got him. It was awesome. Later we went out, had a nice lunch and spent the day out on the town. Then we came home and watched a movie while eating a yummy steak dinner, I think Brynt had a good day πŸ™‚

On their last night here we were able the decorate our Christmas tree with them, Yay! I loved decorating the tree with the people I love while watching Christmas movies. it really doesn’t get much better than that.

It was an awesome week, it was so good to see Camberlyn bonding with her family and I was reminded over and over again of what an amazing family I have.Β  To me it was an early Christmas gift to have them here, there really is nothing that compares to the value of having the ones you love most with you.DSCN5267

New life to an Old Dresser

I love re-purposing things. Not just a little bit, I really love it. There is something incredibly satisfying about taking something old and forgotten and giving it a new home.

Well this weekend I did my my finest re-purposing work yet.

I should start by saying that recently we got a new flat panel TV, it is replasing the tv that Brynt’s parents gave us when we first got married, which was a GREAT tv (seriously, so thankful for awesome inlaws who happy gave us their old tv), but it was a bit bulky. Or a lot bulky. So we got a new tv on black friday ( smokin’ good deal), and is SO much less bulky! I know that Brynt is loving it because it is big and cool, and I do too, but mostly I like it because it is flat.

Anyways, because we got this new tv, I really wanted a new tv stand as well. The bulky tv had been sitting on an old coffee table who, like the tv which it served, was quite bulky. Not Cool. So I scoured the online for sale ads until I came across the perfect dresser to convert to an entertainment center. She didn’t look like much to start with, but I had a vision and I knew I could turn that dresser into something great. And I did.

I am in love with how it turned out, it is seriously exactly what I wanted. I totally did a little happy dance when I took a look at my final outcome πŸ™‚

This is it before, your average, run of the mill dresser.

And here is the transformation…
